3 Common Mistakes To Avoid with Knee Ride
Thanks for these details! Great stuff.
Great details on denying the position. Awesome stuff!
Great pointers, love the explanation of the body mechanics, thanks a million!
Aikido. Stay centred.
What does it mean to tuck your tailbone in? Good video!
Rock your hips forward so you lessen the curve in your lower back. The tail bone is basically where a tail would be if we had one, imagine tucking that tail between your legs using your hips.
@@adamdavey1 thank you Bro! ♥
Thanks!
Great instructions
My favorite sequence. I've got a good head and arm throw and it flows right into this.
do you have details on the kimura from kesa gatame?
Can you show how to engage the feet?
I started BJJ at 50. I was working out and could bench 285 at 5'9, 150 lbs (185 at the time). The first 15 minutes of BJJ a little girl could have killed me because my cardio was non existent. Three years later I was brawling with 25 year olds. Open mouth, deep breathing was good for me and always trying to keep a bit hyper ventilated. Three years later I could go forever without getting tired! That's what you need to roll with younger, stronger guys. Cardio, Cardio, Cardio and two on one!. Legs as arms! At 65 and getting ready to start BJJ again for brain blood flow (and a ton of fun) I'm thinking I just need 10 hours a week of medium to heavy exercise! Oh, and what's all this about leg locks? What are those?
Karry Hartsell always spoke highly of Tim. I do also! :)
I've been having a hell of a time escaping the Josh Barnett soul stealer style of headlock. It's the go-to for one of the bigger guys in our club and he's gotten really good at it. Any tips on escaping that version?
don't get put in it
@@rollinOnCode the problem with that approach is that offensive quality suffers because attackers are never really getting good pushback. Better defense drives better offense. And vice versa.
@@jodybond check out priit mihkelson defensive postures- they provide a few last ditch efforts and postures you may explore if someone goes head and arm kesa gatame. But understand that this is a dominant position you really don't want to be in just like you don't want to be stuck in triangle nor belly down rear mount
@@rollinOnCode funnily enough, I just explored some of these issues with Priit at a seminar a few weeks ago. He's been a big inspiration in my game. Hawking turning away from the attacker helps prevent your diaphragm from being compressed in the soul stealer. So you can breathe, at least. But you essentially have to outlast your partner and wait for them to give up on the position. That said, I've been looking to get feedback from as many sources as possible. I've tried the knee bracing Gordon Ryan suggests, but haven't had much success with it.
nah. i like the double knee ride better. it is very mobile and a lot more stable and brutal
i would say the crucifix is the best grappling move and position.... until you learn the scarecrow.
timing is the biggest thing- even more than asinine dead rote drilling
headlocks can be very brutal - especially when the guy knows what he is doing
Very clear demonstration; thanks. (Great book as well)
there are no pros and cons to anything in life. The pro is not making mistakes and being effective, the cons are making mistakes, no using situational awareness, procrastinating, and blundering. Do not seek to attach your blunders to any existing style.
sorry for poor translation, and i might even stilll be wrong... but i understand this as if you do end up on bottom, the priority should be getting back on top rather than prioritizing keeping opponent pinned so they can't do anything on top?
Nice vid but i cant help but notice how filthy the knees & ass of the 2nd students White gi trousers are, they look like dont get washed.
great instruction as always, thank you!
Street based martial art? The answer is simple. It is the shortest cut to thr jail.
Thanks for the vid and the nice and logic concept: if you can't draw him in one direction bc of his counterbalance go the other direction that will enforce his counterbalance to roll him backwards
One of the best explanations I’ve seen for the Upa. Thank you 🙏🏼
Great video
Super thanks! 🙏
Is this about mount?
Sifu Tackett, you have the coolest vibe! Thank you!
Great interview!! I spent a year at the FKA 79-80. Thank you!
i wouldn't say that cross arm defense is good when someone is on your back - it leaves underhooks exposed and they can go dagestani handcuff on you. it should not be anywhere close to the first or primary line of defense as there are so many better and more imperative layers
Nice
Isn’t a struggle a great way to have unknowns pop up like weapons. People get envious to what you can do they’ll use something. Na mean.
This awesome 🙌👏
Problem is you never learn real JKD. I love JKD. ❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥
Great content, thanks!
I love the gift wrap position. Great video. Thanks for the details!
very good details to get them belly down!
Rubbish Can see that coming a mile away
Looking healthy Matt.
So, the same top / pressure techniques from Jujitsu , Old Judo, and Wrestling. Got it.
Gift wrap keep giving ❤
nice!
Brilliant
Sweet... Great stuff.
What about just focusing on BJJ basics, as in blue belt and under? Things that are high percentage
there is one more way- using your legs. holding someone down by using your legs is extremely effective and very exhausting for person on bottom. think leg rides.
Top game BJJ🔥💪
Great content! I have used the gift wrap when I roll and now you've given me a great option to submit. Thank you!
